About Chiropractic

Chiropractic care - a whole body, systemic approach to healing.

Chiropractic Adjustment

Neuromusculoskeletal. It's a mouthful that simply refers to the connection between the nervous system (brain, spinal cord, and nerves), muscles, and the skeleton. Chiropractors focus on proper movement in joints, which can be restricted by a number of things including muscular tension and misalignment of bone. The restriction can cause impingement of any part of the nervous system resulting in less than optimal function, pain, numbness, etc.

"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will instruct his patient in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease." - Thomas Edison

This quote, found in several newspapers and journals in 1902 and 1903 with slight variations, is a favorite among chiropractors because this is precisely what our focus is - the education about and care of musculoskeletal issues that can affect the nervous system and thus how the human body functions. This, along with proper diet, helps keep the body in optimal condition providing the best opportunity to heal itself and even prevent some disease from taking hold. In many respects, chiropractic is what Edison spoke of over a century ago.

While medications are sometimes necessary, in most cases they should be neither a first approach nor a final solution. Making chiropractic care the first step in your journey to health provides the opportunity to try a non-invasive, drug-free treatment first. For many, this is all that you will need. For some, more traditional medicine may be needed. In these cases, whether the next step include medication or surgery, chiropractic care can act as a complementary treatment, providing your body a foundation to heal and rehabilitate.

Even though we'd love Chiropractic to be the first step to addressing health problems, the reality is that our patients often come to us as a last resort. That's okay, too. Whatever your phase of health or treatment, we are here to help!
